Communications Collective

The Communications Collective is an initiative to create community for GlobalWA member communications professionals to gather, learn, and support each other regarding communications and marketing best practices, new technologies, strategies, and techniques.

History

As we formed our new Strategic Plan 2023-2026, especially in respect to moving to action and impact, we realized there are numerous ways in which we could provide additional support for our global development community. One of which was having more working groups, where peers and colleagues come together regularly to learn from industry professionals and most importantly, learn from each other. This is exactly what the GlobalWA Communications Collective is.

Program

The Communications Collective convenes quarterly. It is lead by Joel Meyers, Communications Director for GlobalWA, and a Planning Committee which consists of several communications professionals from our member organizations. Our member communications contacts receive session announcements and surveys, and sessions are publicized on our Event page and through social media and our newsletter.

Our programming is based on research of the current trends in communications, member surveys of pain points and interest areas, and post-session feedback. Sessions typically are structured to incorporate networking time, presentation of a topic by practicing professionals with Q&A, followed by a working group session where participants can actively apply what they learned, support each other, and share insights.

Annually we review the results and efficacy of the program and distribute a document out to the broader community, curating best practices and our model of co-creation.

Eligibility

The Communications Collective is a benefit for all levels of GlobalWA membership. If you are an employee of a member organization in good standing, you are eligible to participate in our Communications Collective working groups.
