Issue Campaigns

Our Issue Campaigns are a monthly focus on a specific topic following one or more SDGs to be educational and inspiring to our readers. It is published as a newsletter and the articles are catalogued on our website.

History

GlobalWA was formed in 2009 and immediately started publishing a newsletter about global development news and international affairs (see our first newsletter here!). A formula was soon created to connect and promote our members that included member organization spotlights and articles on specific Goalmakers in our community, along with current events, member jobs and more – a winning formula that is maintained to this day.

In 2014 when Kristen Dailey was selected as the Interim Executive Director (read that history here) and later as the elected Executive Director, the newsletter evolved under her leadership and was soon renamed to our “Issue Campaign,” which you receive today if you subscribe, and is still published on our website.

Program

Each year we create our Editorial Calendar based on feedback from members which drives our monthly Issue Campaign topics. Each campaign contains an Issue Brief which describes our monthly SDG focus including challenges being encountered, and dives into how it is being addressed by our member organizations. Also included are a spotlight article on a member organization accomplishing exemplary results relative to the monthly focus, and a Goalmaker – an individual who is truly influential in their field.

Once the Campaign is released, it is also publicized through our social media channels, getting in front of many thousands of additional eyes. The Issue Campaign is an excellent modality for amplifying and promoting the incredible work our members are doing as well as educating our readers on current best practices and sustainable solutions.

Eligibility

To be featured in a Member Spotlight or Goalmaker article, you must be a member in good standing in the Kilimanjaro-level of membership or above (see membership levels and benefits here).
