Do you have strong connections in the community and a knack for strategic thinking? The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Washington is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our newly formed Strategic Donor Engagement Committee

About the Role: As a member of the Strategic Donor Engagement Committee, you will play a critical role in providing insights, connections and strategies to enhance IRC WA’s donor engagement and fundraising efforts. Your insights and connections will help us secure unrestricted donations and strengthen relationships with our supporters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with IRC WA’s development team to create and implement strategies for donor engagement and fundraising.
  • Networking: Leverage your connections to introduce IRC WA to potential donors, partners, and community leaders.
  • Advisory Support: Provide guidance on best practices for donor stewardship and engagement.
  • Event Participation: Support and attend key IRC WA events, helping to promote and fundraise for our programs.
  • Resource Mobilization: Assist in identifying and securing unrestricted donations that can be used to support our most urgent needs.

Ideal Candidates

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have a strong network of contacts and a deep understanding of philanthropic landscapes in the Seattle and Washington state area.
  • Are strategic thinkers with experience in fundraising, development, or donor relations.
  • Are passionate about IRC WA’s mission and committed to making a lasting impact.
  • Are willing to contribute their time and expertise to help us achieve our fundraising goals.

Commitment

  • This is a volunteer position with a flexible time commitment.
  • Attend once a month (virtual or in-person) to discuss strategies and review progress.
  • Remain engaged and participate the remaining time in ongoing email communication with IRC WA’s development team to provide advice and support.
  • Engage in at least fundraising or donor engagement activity per quarter.

Purpose: The Strategic Donor Engagement Committee will provide strategic guidance and support to IRC WA’s development team, with a focus on enhancing donor engagement and securing unrestricted donations.

Structure:

  • Chairperson:An IRC leader( Development Manager)  will coordinate activities and serve as the primary liaison with IRC WA’s development team.
  • Members: A group of 5-10 volunteers with expertise in fundraising, community engagement, and strategic planning.

Meetings: Regular meetings will be held monthly, with additional meetings as needed for specific projects or events.

Goals:

  1. Increase Donor Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to build stronger relationships with existing donors and reach new supporters.
  2. Secure Unrestricted Donations: Identify opportunities for unrestricted giving and assist in securing these funds.
  3. Expand IRC WA’s Network: Introduce IRC WA to potential partners, donors, and community leaders.

Evaluation: The committee will regularly assess its impact on IRC WA’s fundraising efforts and adjust strategies as needed to meet the organization’s goals.
