About our Philanthropy Officer II position

The Philanthropy Officer II (Seattle, WA-based) will play a pivotal role in securing essential funding for Planned Parenthood Great Northwest, Hawai’i, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky (PPGNHAIK) during our comprehensive campaign by developing and nurturing relationships with major donors and prospects.

What will you be doing!

This position is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donations to support PPGNHAIK’s mission and programs, as well as for our sister organization Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates (C4). The Philanthropy Officer II will actively manage a portfolio of key donors to help achieve our team’s fundraising goals. This position requires collaboration with other Philanthropy Officers, department leadership, and cross-department teams. 

· Manage and Grow a Donor Portfolio: Oversee a portfolio of 100-150 major donors who have historical giving or proven capacity typically at $25K+. Build and execute personalized cultivation plans for each donor that lead to philanthropy. Prioritize in-person engagement, achieving 5-6 donor meetings/month.

· Gift Solicitation and Stewardship: Develop and implement tailored strategies to solicit gifts face-to-face as well as express gratitude and impact in creative ways. Actively upgrade donors from the major donor portfolio into the principal giving portfolio (six-figure gifts).

· Philanthropy Writing: Prepare written materials, including funding proposals, impact reports, and donor + volunteer correspondence.

· Collaborate with Leadership:Utilize senior staff and board members or other volunteers in major donor activities as appropriate, including preparing meeting briefs with talking points and assigning thank-you calls.

· Fundraising Events and Engagement: Play an active role in organizing and participating in WA-based fundraising events and major donor engagement activities.

· External Representation and Advocacy: Represent PPGNHAIK at external events and meetings when appropriate, acting as an ambassador for the organization. Stay informed on current local and national issues related to PPGNHAIK’s mission to speak knowledgeably on behalf of the organization.

· Data and Progress Tracking: Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and progress toward goals in the department’s database. Monitor and report on key performance metrics in alignment with team standards.

· Continuous Learning:Participate in relevant training and meetings to enhance job knowledge and stay informed about trends in philanthropy, major giving, and campaigns.

· Other duties as assigned to support the growth and success of PPGNHAIK’s fundraising initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Track record of managing a major donor portfolio and successfully soliciting $25K+ major gifts face-to-face.   
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire donors and internal stakeholders. 
  • Ability to utilize fundraising databases; Raiser’s Edge experience preferred.  
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team; Ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across the organization. 
  • Ability to assess priorities and manage a variety of competing tasks in a time-sensitive environment and to meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality. Entrepreneurial drive. 
  • Understanding philanthropy best practices, especially in the context of campaigns. 
  • Ability to travel within the state required 
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends 
  • CFRE or equivalent credentials a plus. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Associates degree or above preferred.

Salary Range:

$78,164 – $145,163 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. This range represents the minimum and maximum compensation we reasonably expect to offer for this role in Washington State.
