Refugees, Internally Displaced People, and COVID-19
Event Description
There are 70.8 million people around the world who are refugees or internally displaced. As COVID-19 spreads to vulnerable populations in the Global South, it will be nearly impossible for these individuals to following life-saving safety protocols, such as social distancing and frequent hand washing. As such, they will be at much greater risk from this pandemic for their health, physical safety, and falling further below the poverty line.
Global Washington members are working tirelessly to respond to COVID-19 and mitigate its impact on refugees and displaced people. I hope you can join us for this virtual event to learn more.
