Educational Events:
Education is a cornerstone of Pangea’s mission. We believe that informed philanthropy leads to more effective resource allocation, ensuring that our initiatives are both relevant and impactful. Organized by GlobalWA, Pangea members are invited to participate in educational events throughout the year.
Below is a summary of the educational events held over the past six months:
- Final Mile Events (March and May):
In March, Maersk presented their global humanitarian efforts and collaboration with U.S. government programs. In May, PATH showcased their work on delivering lifesaving HIV treatments to patients in Africa. These Final Mile events, organized in partnership with GlobalWA member Logenix, aim to educate our members on the logistics of last-leg humanitarian and relief operations worldwide. - Roundtable with the International Rescue Committee (April):
This in-person event featured directors from the IRC, who discussed the current state of global refugee populations and detailed IRC’s programs focused on refugee support. - Event with Seattle International Foundation (May):
This event celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Central America and Mexico Youth Fund (CAMY), hosted by the Seattle International Foundation (SIF). Pangea member Leslie Grace was honored posthumously, as her generous estate gift will enable SIF to expand support for young women-led organizations in Mexico and Guatemala. - Roundtable Discussion with Sisterhood for Development (May):
Pangea members Paul Silver and Emily Ho recently visited Laos and were inspired by the work of Nou, the leader of Sisterhood for Development, which provides educational and economic opportunities for marginalized Hmong women and girls in Laos. During the roundtable, Nou shared insights into her organization’s impactful work. - Roundtable Discussion with USA for UNHCR (Date):
GlobalWA board member and Pangea member Jane Meseck, along with staff, shared stories and photographs from their recent refugee-focused trip to Colombia and Panama, shedding light on the often-overlooked refugee crisis in Latin America and the programs designed to support these communities.
Social Events:
In addition to our educational offerings, we hosted two successful social events:
- Annual Pangea Summer Social
This year’s Pangea Summer Social was a success, providing a casual and relaxing atmosphere where members came together for a delightful potluck. Under the beautiful weather, everyone mingled, shared stories, and enjoyed each other’s company, making it a memorable event.
- Farewell Party for Kristen Dailey
This event honored Kristen Dailey, the recently resigned Executive Director of Global Washington of the past 10 years.
Upcoming Events:
- October 10:
GlobalWA and the Global Leadership Forum will feature Britt Yamamoto, who will discuss his new book, The Soil of Leadership. - December 3 & 4: 15th Annual Goalmakers Conference:
