The Job


At a time of exciting growth, we are looking for a highly effective business development manager to inspire corporations and foundations to invest in Splash’s mission and programs. This position offers the opportunity to optimize Splash’s institutional giving strategy to support our ambitious fundraising and programmatic goals. You will be responsible for institutional giving reporting at Splash, supporting proposal development, and managing select corporate cause marketing partner relationships.

The goal of this position is to help Splash secure and retain funding from corporations and foundations. This will include writing proposals and reports, as well as managing the grant process in close collaboration with Splash colleagues in programs, finance, and operations. This position requires great communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to warmly convey Splash’s mission, values, and impact. At the same time, this position requires strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to help build and refine systems to ensure success.

This position reports to the director of business development. You will also work with the chief partnerships officer, marketing and communications manager, and other staff. You will contribute to Splash’s mission in a fun, joyful environment that supports learning, advancement, and professional growth.


  • Prepare, review, and edit high-quality grant proposals, applications, reports, and supporting supplemental materials.
  • Work with the director of business development and marketing & communications manager to design creative and compelling content that connects donors with our work and their impact, inspiring deeper connection, and investment.
  • Collaborate effectively across departments and clearly communicate with internal stakeholders to manage the grant reporting process and ensure the accurate and timely submission of documents.
  • Manage and optimize the grants calendar in Salesforce to document the details and deliverables for grants awarded, including grant reports, and track current grant cycles and renewal processes to maintain and increase future funding.
  • Contribute to ongoing SharePoint site development and management of Splash donor communications and due diligence materials.
  • Assess processes on a continuous basis and develop new reports in Salesforce, Tableau, Asana, and other technology platforms in collaboration with technology team colleagues where needed.
  • Support cause-marketing partnerships and other third-party inquiries by assessing opportunities, providing information about Splash, and in some cases directly managing ongoing partner relationships.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify new grant funding opportunities in collaboration with the director of business development and chief partnerships officer.

About You


  • Passion for Splash’s mission and values.
  • 5 years of experience writing grant reports and proposals.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with talent at translating complex work into clear and compelling language suitable for funder audiences.
  • Solid quantitative skills to work on budgets, the narratives about those budgets, and required financial reports.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy — commitment to work product that is thorough, complete, grammatically correct, and polished.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing deadlines.
  • Outstanding relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of professional fundraising systems, processes, and best practices.
  • Graphic design skills such as InDesign or attention to visual elements of donor communications are a plus.
  • Ability to occasionally work evening and early morning hours due to calls with colleagues abroad; availability for limited domestic and international travel (pending COVID-19 pandemic).

  • At Splash, we are committed to living out our mission every day, and that starts with providing benefits that allow our employees to care for themselves and support their families.
  • The annual salary range for this position is $75k–$85k. This will be reviewed at least annually.
  • Splash provides generous benefits including 18 days of paid time off, increasing by 2 days each year up to 28 days, and 11 paid holidays.

  • We provide additional paid time off for all staff between December 26 to New Year’s Eve to recognize end-of-year stress and time for reflection, rejuvenation, and planning for the holidays.
