About this position: Global Program Graduate Research Assistant

The Global Program Graduate Research Assistant is responsible for providing support in analysis for a Maternal and Child Health pilot project in the Dominican Republic, as well as program development activities.

This individual will have the chance to supports the pilot study by conducting data analyses, including qualitative analysis of WhatsApp chat groups, post-intervention interviews, and quantitative analysis of validated surveys. Additionally, they will help in the coordination and preparation of report drafts. And participate in internal/external communications for the project.

This position is non-exempt, based in Seattle, WA, and limited duration until the completion of this project (3-6 months). The Research Assistant will work an average of 10 hours/week. Spanish language fluency is required.

What you’ll be doing:

Conduct literature review of, including but not limited to, different methodologies of qualitative analysis of online forums, SMS messages, WhatsApp chats.

Draft data analysis plan outlining methods for analysis of data collected in the Dominican Republic

Conduct data analysis including but not limited to qualitative analysis as outlined in the data analysis plan in collaboration with Global Programs staff and their partners in the Dominican Republic.

As needed, provides research support for program development activities.

Supports development of Global Program publications/materials.

Collaborate and coordinate with Global Programs staff and partner organization staff in the Dominican Republic.

You’ll need to have:

Spanish language fluency (required).

Status as a currently enrolled graduate level student at the School of Public Health at the University of Washington with interest in adolescent health, maternal and child health, and/or sexual and
reproductive health and rights.

Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English & Spanish (required).

Program coordination among various groups.

Experience working in global health preferred; strongly prefer knowledge or experience in the field of sexual and reproductive health.

Qualitative research experience.

Scientific writing experience.

Familiarity with Atlas.ti and R data analysis software.
