Future of Fish is a systems-change non-profit that provides strategy, design, and research services to NGOs, foundations, investors, businesses, and government officials working to build a world where fisheries and people thrive together. We seek to catalyze innovation, investment, and collaboration to end over fishing while improving economic opportunity and social equity for resource-dependent communities.Future of Fish is a virtual team with staff working remotely from locations throughout the world but primarily based in US Pacific Time hours. We are a highly educated team of 12+ staff with a diverse set of expertise ranging from international development, investment finance, seafood markets, fisheries social science, technology, and marine science. This position will be based out of Seattle, Washington working closely with the Operations Director and Executive Director out of our Fremont office.


the Operations Coordinator will work closely with the Operations Director as an integral part of the Future of Fish team – with responsibilities that span across organizational operations from budget reconciliation, systems management, communications and project coordination. The position is ideal fora highly motivated individual, passionate about making an impact and looking to increase small not-for-profit operations and development skills.


In addition to the above considerations, the responsibilities of the Operations Coordinator include, but are not limited to:


o Basic office management and administrative duties including: agenda preparation, note taking, meeting scheduling, generating reports, share drive management and preparation for presentations, meetings and reconciliation monthly operating budgets and share updates with senior leadership

o Process weekly expense payments

o Updating all project budget tracking worksheets with actual on a monthly basis

o Drafting processes, policies and procedures

●Support Operations Director with human resource activities including:

o Monthly timekeeping and payroll processing

o Planning annual staff retreat

o Organizing professional development opportunities

●Ecosystem of tools

o Responsible for maintaining and updating the organizational database, Bloomerang, used for relationship management, communications and metrics tracking

o Planning and organizing conferences, events, staff training, and employee engagement activities

● Communications

o Scheduling and maintenance of Future of Fish’s social media channels

o Distribution of communication campaigns

o Work closely with the communications team and OD to plan and publish organizational communications content

o Support writing projects ranging from newsletters to mass emails and assist by proofreading written communications

o Creation of templates as needed

o Assembly of analytics on communications channels and performance

●Other duties as assigned – as a small team operating multiple projects simultaneously, ad hocprojects and additional growth opportunities are available

●Expert level English and fluency in Spanish

●Excellent oral and written communication skills

●Superior organizational skills

●Must be able to maintain confidentiality

●Good interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, prospects and partners

●Adept at using various applications including databases, spreadsheets, report writing, project management, social media platforms, word processing, presentation creation/editing including office software such as Microsoft Office or G: Suite

●Proficiency at an intermediate level in the use of spreadsheets (excel or google sheets) for building budget, project management and metrics tracking

●Ability to analyze problems and determine corrective measures
