Global Education Initiative
Global Washington’s members in the education sector created the K-20 Global Education Initiative in January 2011 to improve global education in the State of Washington for students in K-20 private and public schools. The goal of this initiative is to better prepare Washington State students to enter the professional world as knowledgeable and competent global citizens. The Initiative is gathering feedback from key stakeholders who care about global education through task forces, interviews, community conversations and a Global Education Summit.
Desired Outcome
The K-20 Global Education Initiative will create long-term policy recommendations to improve global education in Washington State. We are in the process of creating a report, which will include innovative practices in global education, policy recommendations and an advocacy plan to begin moving the recommendations forward.
We have an opportunity to develop global leaders in Washington State and internationally through policy changes and collaboration across diverse sectors, including business, education and global development. Global Washington would like to invite you to join this coalition of organizations, educational institutions, and educators working on the Global Education Initiative by sharing your ideas and knowledge.

- Global Education Resources: One of the recommendations coming from the Initiative is a common online resource hub for global education. The K-20 Global Education Initiative has been gathering favorite resources from individuals working in global education. This is a draft and we need your feedback to grow this list. Please review when you have the chance and send an email to info@globalwa.org if you have any suggested resources or comments about current resources. Thank you for contributing!
