Global Good (GG) is an evergreen invention development fund managed by Intellectual Ventures. GG’s charter is to solve challenging problems facing the developing world by using invention, product development, and business methodologies available in more economically developed environments. GG’s focus is on invention and proof of concept work and finding partners to co-develop and take over commercialization and deployment of the product concepts. GG works very closely with The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Trust, and also with governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and commercial partners to target, conceive, develop and deploy inventions that improve and save lives.
GG’s Global Development Technologies Portfolio focuses on technologies to assist poverty alleviation and food security in low-resource environments in the developing world, through enabling sanitation and agricultural productivity enhancement for smallholder farmers and farmworkers.
GG seeks to fill a short-term role for an experienced Coordinator that has worked in and with industry/NGOs/ government agencies, ideally in developing nations, and ideally having some practical knowledge of agriculture, nutrition, sanitation, off-grid energy and food security challenges in the developing world. The Coordinator will be a strong communicator, with skill in managing complex product development pathways, comprising multiple efforts and stakeholder relationships. The Coordinator must be effective at coordinating small groups of technical, business and field-based professionals, while simultaneously engaging with and leveraging a much larger group of indirect constituents such as lab scientists, product engineers, and external vendors/service providers/field partners.
-Coordinate and facilitate team and project meetings, stakeholder meetings, workshops identifying opportunities for invention, and pre-initiative research
-Arrange and prepare external facing meetings including scheduling and invitations, agenda development, and presentation development
-Support field visit logistics, meetings, and itinerary coordination
-Prepare and distribute meeting minutes, capturing and tracking actions and outcomes
-Manage action item logs to ensure action items are promptly addressed and closed out
-Maintain project schedules, using project management tools including MS Project, to track key deliverables, progress toward milestones, timelines, resources, and costs, from initiation and pilot stages through to productization and commercialization hand-off
-Work with Finance to produce regular budget variance reports and projections, and with Lab and Finance to create any necessary change orders. Report to Finance on Portfolio team’s time allocations
Key Qualifications and Required Skills:
-Master’s degree preferred and 3+ years of program coordination or project management, ideally in an agricultural, nutrition, sanitation, energy andor technology related international development field
-Proactive self-starter, approachable with a positive can-do attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and scrupulous attention to detail
-Demonstrated ability to achieve results with cross-functional teams in a highly technical business environment
-International experience preferred, ideally in a developing country.
-Demonstrated poise, professionalism and confidence when communicating with and presenting to high-profile internal and external customers
-High proficiency preferred with Microsoft Project and the MS Office program suite
