We work at the highest level, identifying leaders who will make transformative contributions to private and corporate philanthropies, NGOs, nonprofits, and other social enterprise organizations with whom we work. We have earned a strong reputation for success in carrying out searches for key leaders and board members to help organizations fulfill their mission and mandate. We are known for our subject matter expertise, discretion, judgment, care, sound strategic counsel, and our extensive network in the social sector.
Research at Waldron
Insightful and creative research to identify prospective candidates is a key component to our executive search methodology. It allows us to enter new fields and make new connections. While we rely on our extensive database and existing networks when our search team is recruiting, we don’t stop there. We build new lists of target candidates. Fresh, original research helps us ensure an unbiased approach and allows us to find high caliber passive candidates. Once candidate research lists have been developed, the work is then handed off to Search Directors and Engagement Managers on our search teams, who then conduct direct sourcing and outreach to those individuals.
The Head of Candidate Research is a newly created role in our growing search business. We work on projects with deep impact in communities near and far. Whether it’s helping a nonprofit find a talented new leader, a growing NGO rapidly building capacity to increase their impact, or a foundation seeking new domain expertise, the ripple effect of our work is both exceptional and humbling. The Head of Candidate Research will play a critical role in this work.
The Head of Candidate Research will be responsible for managing and planning for Waldron’s research needs across our expanding search practice, ensuring high quality research results and collaborating with our search teams in Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco. Leveraging powerful and effective tools and trends in research and candidate identification, the Head of Candidate Research will seek ways to enhance our research and sourcing capabilities. This role will proactively work with Search teams to align our resources and methodology to identify diverse and passive talent for the highest levels in the social sector.

- Improve or create systems, networks, and partnerships to support the creation of comprehensive candidate pools.
- Identify and manage external research/sourcing resources as needed to ensure internal capacity to get work done, and provide the scale and flexibility our Search Practice needs.
- Help to oversee our candidate management database, ensuring accountability for quality and relevance of data as well as plan for technical improvements, troubleshoot, and work with developers as needed.
- Guide and conduct candidate research:
- Provide candidate sourcing input and strategic support to the search teams as well as assist in the implementation of agreed upon approaches.
- Conduct customized candidate research and develop target lists for Search team members from which to source / recruit.
- Design and develop plans to reach broad and diverse pools of candidates in an efficient manner.
- Devise strategies and assist in finding hard-to-uncover information on prospects.
