Landesa is seeking a sharp and energized Director of Global Human Resources to drive the strategic HR requirements for Landesa’s continued growth and development. This includes maximizing people processes, programs and initiatives aligned with the organization’s HR and business strategies and outcomes to enhance employee and business performance. The Director plays a key role in leading worldwide human resources and domestic facilities management, partnering with leaders and optimizing talent to drive Landesa’s mission and nurture its values. Landesa is an international nonprofit, founded in 1981, and dedicated to ending global poverty by securing land rights for the world’s poorest. Landesa has worked in 50 countries throughout the world, with a home office in Seattle, WA and field offices in China and India. The organization is widely supported by partners, including NGOs, foundations, donor agencies (USAID, World Bank, etc.), world leaders, educational institutions and individual supporters throughout the world. Landesa is known for its advancement of pro-poor, gender-sensitive land rights reforms that have helped alleviate poverty, reduce hunger, and ease conflict over land for more than 120 million women and men. The Director of Global Human Resources must share Landesa’s values, demonstrate commitment to its mission, be passionate about those in poverty, and believe gender equality and land rights matter.

Here’s what you’ll be leading, supported by a talented human resources and recruiting team:

Strategic HR Leadership
Lead the human resources function domestically and internationally; developing and driving a global people strategy that achieves business objectives
Identify and drive HR best practices at the local, country and global level; draw on experience working in key geographies served by Landesa
Address and provide consultation on complex employee relations matters
Manage mid- and large scale HR and business initiatives and projects, providing structure and process, driving deliverables, and measuring success
Serve on the Global Advisory Team
Talent Acquisition and Development
Design recruiting practices in multiple countries, leveraging both in-house and external resources to identify and hire top talent while ensuring a positive candidate experience
Partner with global leaders to support in-country recruiting initiatives and practices
Assess and facilitate training and development needs in partnership with global leadership supporting a culture of continuous learning
Oversee performance assessment and improvement efforts, guiding managers and partnering with country HR leads on performance management and talent development
HR Operations and Facilities Management
Draw on current knowledge of compensation and benefits practices to structure and manage competitive offerings
Develop, refine, recommend and oversee HR systems, processes and resources
Proactively address compliance requirements, minimizing risk and fostering a safe and healthy work environment
Oversee facilities operations, leases, and physical space for US-based operations
Team Leadership
Manage global HR and facilities teams; hiring, coaching, and developing top talent that delivers outstanding results
Promote and encourage a work environment and culture that values teamwork, innovation, cooperation, open communication, and respect
Foster integrated team building across departments
Here’s what will support your success:

A deep commitment and passion for Landesa’s mission of a better, safer future for the world’s poorest people through secure access to land
Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field plus a minimum of 7 years’ human resources leadership experience, or equivalent combination of education and HR leadership experience
International NGO HR experience as a business partner and/ or with leadership expertise and knowledge, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia; preferably in countries served by Landesa
Strong coaching, management, and leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to influence
Advanced project management, change management and organizational design skills, with current knowledge of models, tools, resources, and practices that support impactful outcomes
Consultative style that supports credibility, professionalism and a positive HR brand; ability to effectively collaborate and interact with a multi-cultural and highly educated staff across a matrixed, global organization
GPHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent professional certifications
