Detention Center Post-Release Coordinator

Every year, tens of thousands of people pass through the Northwest Immigration Detention facility in Tacoma, WA. Detainees are sent to this facility from all over the country. Some stay in the center for days, others for many months and even years. World Relief Seattle (WRS) is now accepting applications for a full-time Detention Center Post-Release Coordinator to coordinate their transition and welcome back into the community upon release.


  • Coordinate volunteers to provide services to detainees upon release
  • Host home coordination
  • Transportation coordination
  • Partner with AID NW’s Welcome Center for volunteer and detainee support
  • Recruit and train new volunteers
  • Thank and show appreciation to existing volunteers
  • Provide direct service to released-detainees navigating access to community and government services and resources
  • Create transition plans for detainees leaving the area.  Assist those staying to enroll in local programs including World Relief employment, housing and English programs
  • Track and report volunteer and released-detainee activities
  • Assist the WRS Outreach Team in educating the public about the work we do and how they can join us in welcoming refugees and immigrant
  • Other related tasks as assigned


  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively with people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
  • Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple duties
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Experience with Immigrants and/or non-native English speakers very helpful
  • Bi-Lingual in Spanish or Strong Knowledge of Spanish required
  • Intermediate computer knowledge, including MS Office
  • Current Washington State driver’s license and access to a vehicle required


  • Full-time, permanent, non-exempt
  • Location: 50% Kent, WA and 50% Tacoma, WA
  • Compensation: DOE
  • Start Date – March 1st, 2018
