Foundation Overview: The Max Foundation ( is a global health organization that believes all people living with cancer have the right to access the best treatment and support. We aim to help people face cancer with dignity and hope by creating treatment access channels for oncology products in low- and middle-income countries where they don’t exist. By partnering with industry, non-governmental agencies, health care providers, and national cancer patient organizations, we are able to provide effective access solutions. Our international non-profit functions as an operating foundation with all funds raised spent directly on our programs and not as grants to other charitable organizations.

Role Summary:
The Communications Manager, Copywriter bridges the programmatic work of The Max Foundation with its communication and development goals. Reporting to the VP of Strategic Partnerships and Communications, the Copywriter oversees the development, creation, and strategy for stories and reports on The Max Foundation’s global work in cancer control. The Copywriter will create stories based on interviews with patients, colleagues, and observation of programs, and must demonstrate extensive experience and responsibility leading development of high-quality, high-impact written content.
In line with your role of storytelling, you will collaborate with colleagues across the organization and with external partners to create program reports, new updates, blog stories, and other content to advance the communication goals and objectives. The Copywriter will also contribute to the organization’s communications efforts, including digital and campaign planning, as well as project management. This role may require some travel to capture stories about the organization’s work on the ground.

 Lead creation and management of content development work across platforms and materials.
 Provide production, writing, and story gathering for and among global community.
 Lead project management for global projects including the development of digital products and campaigns for global network.
 Collaborate with program stakeholders to set content strategy and project planning.
 Establish and manage processes related to programmatic reporting.
 Liaise with external partners and stakeholders, as needed, towards content development.
 Write, edit, and update web and print content for professional and lay audiences. Content may include blog posts, brochures, e-mail newsletters, fact sheets, feature articles, presentations, social media campaigns and posts, web pages, websites, and more.
 Ensure that content supports and adheres to organizational brand, style conventions, and voice.
 Determine content structure and requirements for the website, inventory existing content, identify gaps, and evaluate possible sources for additional material.
 Create and update workflows and creative briefs for content production as needed.
 Assist in the development of marketing and social media strategies.
 Collaborate on overall UX strategy, including analytics reporting for the website and email campaigns.

 Excellent writing and editing skills.
 Mission-driven approach and passion for global health.
 Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, journalism or related field.
 At least 5 years of full-time experience in a professional writing capacity.
 Nonprofit experience with preference for global health background.
 Experience leading the planning, creating, and managing of digital and print content.
 Expertise in the current trends within content strategy and development, as well as brand management.
 Strong understanding of topics related to global health and social justice.
 Experience living/working within an international context highly valued.
Skills and Attributes:
 Proficiency in grammar, copyediting, proofreading, and using style guides.
 Strong communication skills and the ability to influence individuals at all levels internally and externally.
 Capacity for flexibility and openness to adjust to a changing work environment.
 Ability to multitask and work among diverse team of professionals.
 Ability to quickly comprehend complicated new subjects including scientific, medical, and policy areas.
 Skills in analyzing end users’ needs and shaping content to meet them.
