Organization Description
UW Worldwide is a sustained program for educational and researchexchange that brings together faculty, graduates, and undergraduate students from the United States, China, and other countries to work on collaborative research projects on all aspects of environmental and sustainability research involving sciences, social sciences, and humanities. In addition to our flagship projects in China, we have also engaged in collaborative environmental projects with universities in Vietnam, Japan, New Zealand, and Southern Africa.
Example Project
The flagship project of UW Worldwide is a long-term collaboration between the University of Washington, Sichuan University, and Jiuzhaigou National Park to assess the long-term human impacts on this famous area of biological an cultural diversity, and to help in planning for the sustainable future of the park and communities there. UW Worldwide has also facilitated many projects of sustainability research in Yangjuan Village, a poor minority mountain community in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, in conjunction with an elementary school funded by people associated with UW, as well as with institutions in China, Taiwan, and France.
